Russia bombarded Kyiv with missiles hours after agreeing to resume talks with Ukraine, the Guardian reported.

According to the BBC, missiles hit the capital after Moscow said it was “ready in principle” to resume peace talks, following a US call to restart them. US President Donald Trump said the world was “the closest we’ve been” to ending the war, the BBC reported.

The Guardian reported that experts said Russia was trying to destroy energy infrastructure before winter, and that US “appeasement and flattery” would not achieve peace.
