Jacobs Faced Abuse Allegations From Three Women in Police Records

Three women contacted police with allegations of abuse against Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs after his arrest in May, according to records released by the Hobart and Lawrence police department in Wisconsin, and one of them alleged that Mr. Jacobs threatened to kill her.
The accounts surfaced in evidence the department released Friday night in response to a public records request, first reported by Green Bay television station NBC 26. As police investigated the battery case arising from Mr. Jacobs’s May altercation with his then-girlfriend, the other women came forward to detail their own allegations, and their reports were folded into the case file. The allegations have not been charged, and no wrongdoing has been established against the player.
Mr. Jacobs was arrested on May 26, three days after an incident in which a woman said he threw her to the ground. He pleaded no contest on September 10 to misdemeanor counts of battery and criminal damage to property.
His lawyers, David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Clarence Duchac III, issued a statement Saturday calling the newer accounts “uncorroborated, old, and previously unreported,” and saying the Brown County district attorney’s office had held them for months while conducting “their own exhaustive investigation.”
The league moved the same day. Pro Football Talk reported that the N.F.L. “will review” the allegations, and The Athletic reported the league is examining unreported allegations under its personal conduct policy, which allows investigations of matters that never entered the court system. The N.F.L. inquiry into the incident behind the May arrest is still open and could bring further discipline.
Mr. Jacobs, the 2022 rushing champion, is in his fifth season with Green Bay, which secured him with the franchise tag before the 2023 campaign. Whether the review affects his standing with the club will turn on what the league’s inquiry finds.
Nothing in the records reviewed Saturday indicates charges stemming from the three newer allegations, and the identities of the women have not been published.
