Kane Misses a Penalty as Dortmund Draw 2-2 at Bayern
Seven Lights

Fabio Silva equalised in the 89th minute to give Borussia Dortmund a 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich in Der Klassiker on Saturday, a match in which Harry Kane missed a penalty and Bayern struck the woodwork four times.
The result left the two leading clubs level on 18 points, with Bayern ahead of Dortmund on goal difference.
Konrad Laimer gave Bayern the lead in the 38th minute on the rebound after his first effort was blocked by the Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Serhou Guirassy levelled for Dortmund on the hour, and parity lasted six minutes before Dayot Upamecano tapped in from close range off a Kane assist.
Kane, who collected the Ballon d’Or at a ceremony in London on Monday, sent a penalty against the crossbar in the 56th minute with Bayern 1-0 ahead. He also struck the post, one of four occasions on which Bayern failed to convert. Lennart Karl’s shot rebounded from the crossbar in stoppage time.
Silva settled the matter late, after Kane’s low shot had bounced off the post in the build-up. Dortmund had a goal ruled out by video arbitration in a first half in which Bayern also hit the post through Michael Olise and Ismael Saibari missed a clear chance.
Bayern played without their head coach, Vincent Kompany, who is recovering after collapsing last week, and were affected by injuries to Serge Gnabry and Olise. Kane had been an unused substitute in the German Cup second-round win over Magdeburg on Wednesday and returned to the starting line-up on Saturday.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Freiburg beat Augsburg 2-1 thanks to Cyriaque Irié’s 85th-minute goal to stay third. In La Liga, Barcelona moved to the top of the table after a heavy win over Alaves.
The draw leaves the league’s two foremost clubs level before the November international break.
